Make a Major Illness claim

If you’ve recently been diagnosed with a major illness, please accept our sympathies at this difficult time. We’ll do everything we can to make things as easy as possible.

To make a Major Illness Plan insurance claim, just follow these simple steps.

Step 1. Contact us
Call us on 13 77 87 to let us know you’ll be making a claim. We will stop collecting premiums from you until the claim has been processed.

Step 2. Send us the details
When you’re ready, please send us the following original documents:

• A completed Claim Form 
• A certified copy of the evidence of the illness. Find out more about the evidence you need to provide.
• A certified copy is a copy signed and stamped by a Justice of the Peace (JP)  who has checked it against the original document.

We will process your claim and contact you to let you know how it’s progressing.  If there are other people insured on your policy we’ll update it and send out new policy documents once your claim is processed.

If you’re making the claim as the beneficiary of someone who has passed away from a major illness and would like someone to talk to, we offer our customers and their loved ones access to personalised and professional help when they’re dealing with loss with three grief counselling sessions at no cost. These sessions are provided by Konekt, an external organisation comprising a large team of qualified psychologists.

This service must be accessed within twelve months of the death of your loved one, and is available to one immediate family member with just one quick phone call to 1300 880 777.

If you’re in financial difficulties, CentreLink may also be able to help you with a bereavement payment, bereavement allowance or a widow’s allowance. For more information, call CentreLink on 13 28 50.
