Life insurance is all about peace of mind. You can relax knowing that if anything ever happened to you, your family will be taken care of.

It's an important decision, so here are some things you might want to know, and that other insurers might try to hide from you, about your Life Insurance Plan.

Q: What's covered and what's not?
A: The Life Insurance Plan from InsuranceLine is a life insurance policy, which means that claims are paid upon death or diagnosis of a terminal illness with a life expectancy of less than 12 months.

Once accepted, you're covered immediately. That means you're covered for ANY cause of death (except for suicide or intentional self injury for the first 13 months).

Some causes of death may be excluded from your individual policy. These are dependent on such factors as your occupation and health and lifestyle. But there won't be any nasty surprises as all exclusions will be clearly explained to you at the time of your application, and also explained in the confirmation mailed to you.

Q: What happens if I leave out information at the time of application?
A: It's extremely important to provide all the information requested at the time of application. TOWER will have access to all your medical records should a claim be made against your policy. If you don't provide information honestly and accurately, it's possible that your policy will not be valid and any claim made against the policy will be denied. It's not something we want to have to tell your family. The added stress this would place on them at this time is huge and certainly wouldn't be the outcome you wanted.
Q: Can I get cover at any age?
A: Australian residents aged 18 to 59 can apply. Once accepted, your policy can continue until the plan anniversary following your 69th birthday. Your policy will end on that date with no further cover provided.
Q: Will my premiums ever go up?
A: It is important to note that the underlying premium rates are not guaranteed. However, you will never be singled out individually for a premium rate increase, and any increase will only apply to all policyholders using the same table of rates. You will be given at least 30 days' notice of this.

As you’d expect, your premiums will go up as you get older, if you add another person to your policy and if you increase the amount of your cover. This also applies if you have ‘Inflation Protection’ on your policy, where your cover goes up each year according to the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or 5%, whichever is greater.

Q: If I cancel my policy, will I get a refund?
A: If you cancel within 30 days of your policy issue you will get a refund of all premiums paid on that policy. However, it is not a savings plan and has no cash value so if you cancel outside the first 30 days of your policy issue you will not be entitled to any premium refund.
